One Part of a Whole

One Part of a Whole:
A weary hand held skyward,
Collects gravel as it falls.
It's all that's given freely,
No currency at all.
One grave remembered,
All others were lost,
Amidst them; such achievements!,
cast downward into dust.
The shine from out their coffers,
Had us digging in the dirt,
We hardly scratched the surface,
wound up burying ourselves.
All we are is just one part of a whole,
But to give up? to surrender control?
Its not fate, its just our willingness to act...
for each other, without greed,
belive in that!
This is where the time is lost,
forgoing values,
to chase a cost.
The is when our hopeless hearts bend,
Not a means to an end
nor the means to "transcend"

Crawl, Climb, Collapse

Crawl, Climb, Collapse:
Pinned down and put upon,
we crawl, on our bellies.
Through every hope dashed,
and dismal dream disowned. we climb!
Clawing our way back, as the arrows fall,
grip weary and weakened,
skin scraped and torn raw.
A mirage of memory,
our glory days were staged,
a welcome distraction, from a species plagued.
We tilt our heads up to the glowing sky,
hands outstretched and reaching,
These blurry shapes burnt into our tired eyes.
We collapse! Weighed down and preyed upon,
we battle, with our past.
The hours that eat each day.
Oh how they weigh, on our shoulders.
Clawing our way back,
as the arrows fall,
grip weary and weakened,
skin scraped and torn raw.
A mirage of memory,
our glory days were staged,
a welcome distraction, from a species plagued.
Wake up,
just breathe and relax,
we crawl, we climb,
we collapse!
To try to break this,
cycle we've made,
we'll holler hopeful,
to the long betrayed,
Our vision clear,
fading faith retained,
climb to our feet,
to begin again

Burning Questions

Burning Questions
We clutch, onto every straw,
Even if it breaks our fingers
And leaves our palms red raw.
Will you show me where it all went wrong?
Or the way out of this room?
If this was as easy as they made it out to be, it would be.
I've tried, I've tried,
But I can't make all these worries mine,
Outline and trace to show what all of these vague shadows mime.
This life, is beautiful,
If we don't get out the darkness,
Our futures soon turn dull.
I'll stand engulfed, an inferno of,
Trinkets and lost letters,
The only way I can lament the passing time, we waste.
They won't leave me alone,
Old words echoed but long dead.
You said, to stay,
We didn't listen, to you,
And now we walk.
Heads high, awake, all sins forgiven, and free,
But I was lost.
Live for a day where we don’t have this,
Need to resist. The need to resist!
Live for a day when we don’t have to,
Fight to exist, fight to exist!

Dead Arms Dangling At The Wheel:
So silent in our quarters,
have we forgotten how to sail?
We're all so weary from the struggle,
Dead arms dangling at the wheel.
To lose our minds, in no hope.
All consumed, by the hustle,
Forget our purpose...just to cope.
Anchored our hearts in still seas,
Not for love, but for safety,
Trading risk for apathy.
There's no heading anymore,
we're afloat and that's enough.
All alone with no gale to guide us,
No course remaining...to adjust.
To lose our minds, in no hope.
All consumed, by the hustle,
Forget our purpose...just to cope.
Adrift and barely holding on,
No shore to save us and no shelter,
When the storms finally come.

Rebuild

Rebuild:
This feels kind of like a baptism,
Submerged and blessed by ugly rhythm.
Opened my heart,
Rebuild it from these broken parts.
To grow, apart from what we loved.
Is fear the thing that's driving us?
To grow, apart from what we loved.
Is fear the thing that's driving?
This house has is like a sacred prison,
Captured. Held in the algorithm.
Wasted our time,
Waiting for stars to re-align.
To grow, apart from what we loved.
Is fear the thing that's driving us?
To grow, apart from what we loved.
Is fear the thing that's driving?
Help me, find a way out.
A burden shed, a light that's leading.
Turn heel to dark days.
Live a life you believe in!
These old bones,
All ache these days.
Please remember to rest them well.
These old bones, All worn out,
They ache these days.
Please remember to, Stay warm!
Keep moving, but rest them well.
Steer reckless, and free again!
We won't give up now and we can't give in.
A wreckage! That we've been trapped in!
Won’t give up now, we can't give in.

The Swell of the Sea

The Swell of the Sea:
Trapped on this stretch of land,
As the skies caved in,
Watched as the tide rose up,
Without doing a thing.
The town’s disappearing,
With just ourselves to thank,
We'd have struggled for safety,
If we'd been given the chance.
If we'd been given the chance.
Sink further into,
The swell of the sea,
Float with the current,
To ease you retreat.
We’re trapped on this stretch of land,
As the storm closed in.
A shoreline eroded,
Under a bleak biting wind.
The ground disappearing,
As all our houses sank,
We'd have scrambled for safety,
If we'd been given the chance.
If we'd been given the chance.
Sink further into,
The swell of the sea,
Float with the current,
To ease you retreat.

Oblivious and Cold
02:02

Our Minds; Oblivious and Cold:
A contrast of chaos and,
The need to feel at ease.
Our culture of comfort at war,
With our basic human needs.
There never was a moment when we changed,
It's more we just decayed.
Our minds, distracted by the routine of the day,
Oblivious and cold ...we led ourselves astray.
"It could be, so much worse",
A mantra, proclaimed.
Both a blessing and a curse,
Still tragic all the same.

Decaying, You Grow

Decaying; You Grow:
Close those eyes tight,
Aware but well rested,
To deny their rights,
Just to make it,
Easy for you
To breathe in the illness,
Your machine spews.
All over everyone.
It’s always been a battle of wits,
One side with guns, the other raised fists.
A life of lies that we choose to live with.
To feed on fear and yet be it's captive.
Doors bolted shut,
You cower in panic,
As the world wilts,
Decaying; you grow,
Lonely and frail.
Confess regrets to, an empty room.
It couldn't mean less.
Its always been a battle of wits,
One side with guns, the other bare fists.
A life of lies that we choose to live with.
To feed on fear and yet be it's captive.
To follow blindly,
Absolved and meek,
To feed yourself,
On the flesh of the weak.
We can't lean on each other,
We're sick from the cold,
Harsh words reigned around us,
Indifferent to it all.
